Waterfront Law

Waterfront is a niche law firm based in London with an expert team of solicitors specialising in intellectual property, technology, corporate, commercial, data protection and employment law.

Established in 2002 to provide an alternative option to the growing number of tech SMEs looking for legal advice, we have since steadily grown both in size and in breadth of expertise to a firm that provides advice on: disputes, commercial, corporate, employment and data protection law. However, we still retain a strong intellectual property and technology sector focus.

We now act for the full spectrum of business clients including individual entrepreneurs, SMEs, global companies and government agencies.

We are one of the few boutique UK law firms that have been ranked for a number of years in the prestigious Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners legal directories and as well as intellectual property publications such as the World Trademark Review.

Waterfront’s corporate team has successfully advised the Jellyfish Pictures group on a minority investment by Key Capital Partners

Waterfront’s corporate team has successfully advised the Jellyfish Pictures group on a minority investment by Key Capital Partners.

Jellyfish Pictures provides high-quality animation, visual effects (VFX) and art department services around the world, and its clients include Disney+, Netflix, DreamWorks, Apple TV, HBO, Sky, BBC and Amazon. The business has also won over 40 industry awards including BAFTAs and EMMYs. The investment will expedite the global scaling of the VFX and animation teams, and advance the development and production of its original kids and family content through Jellyfish Originals.

The Waterfront team advising on the acquisition was led by partner Matt Cunningham and associate Charlotte Lang, with support from corporate partner Angus Young, employment partner Anthony Purvis and Head of Commercial and Data Privacy Sharon Zachariah.

Our advisors at Waterfront Solicitors were thoroughly diligent throughout, guiding us through a complicated process. They were always on the front foot through the deal, breaking things down in a clear and considered way. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the team at Waterfront.Phil Dobree from Jellyfish

“Waterfront provided both great service and invaluable expertise to me and the team here at Plandek throughout the investment round. Waterfront’s team was first class and very accommodating, ensuring that everything ran smoothly.”
